Once a Theatre Kid, always a Theatre Kid. For the last three seasons, I’ve been incredibly lucky to be a Theatrical Photographer and Video Producer for the St. Bart’s Players — NYC’s longest-running off-off-Broadway theatre. Below are a few of my favorite promotional photos from their recent productions of One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest and Company.
During the fall of 2017, when I learned that the Players were planning to do a staged reading of The Laramie Project, I proposed doing a photo series with quotes from the show to help introduce the audience to the various voices and characters they could expect to see in the production. Below are a few of the photos from this campaign. (We had an exceptionally good Zubaida Ula in this cast if I say so myself.) To see the rest of the photo series, click here.
To promote the Players’ shows, I’ve created both montage teasers and collaborated with the cast on comedic social clips to introduce audiences to the shows’ characters. Below are a few of my favorites. To see more of my video work for the Players, check out this Vimeo album.
You Can’t Take It With You is one of my favorite plays of all time, and I was extremely excited to get to shoot a rehearsal teaser for the Players’ production in the spring of 2018. The hardest part about putting this video together was not distracting the cast with my laughter during filming.
Godspell has always been a musical close to my heart, and I was very excited to do a rehearsal teaser for a show I enjoy so much. I shot and edited this piece in the fall of 2018.
The very first show I ever worked on for the St. Bart’s Players was for their production of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. I shot and edited this teaser for them in spring of 2016.
To introduce the many spellers of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, I worked with the cast on a short series of teasers to find out how their character prepared for The Bee. In this video, Marcy Park (who speaks SIX languages) is mighty confident about how she’ll do against the other spellers.
This was a teaser montage I shot and edited for the Players’ production of Company in the fall of 2017.
Leading up to the opening of COMPANY, I collaborated with the cast on a series on a series of improv’d in-character sit-downs that were meant to be a glimpse inside the relationships of each of the main couples. In this video, newlyweds Paul and Amy (well, mostly Amy) have A LOT to say about the trials of doing laundry at their house.
This was a 30-second rehearsal teaser I created for the Players’ production of A Little Night Music in the spring of 2017.
